WALA Member Averil Rothrock appointed to King County Superior Court

Governor Jay Inslee appointed Averil Budge Rothrock to King County Superior Court. She replaces Judge John H. Chun, who was recently appointed to the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division 1.

WALA member Eric D. Miller nominated to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals

Today President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to nominate a sixteenth wave of judicial nominees, sixteenth wave of United States Attorney nominees, and eleventh wave of United States Marshal nominees. If confirmed, Eric D. Miller of Washington will serve as a Circuit Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  Eric Miller is a partner in the Seattle office of Perkins Coie LLP, where he serves as the Chair of the firm’s appellate practice. He is also a part-time lecturer at the University of Washington School of Law. read more…

Supreme Court Adopts Position Advocated By WALA

WALA appeared as Amicus Curiae in Personal Restraint Petition of Eddie D. Arnold, 190 Wn.2d 136, 410 P.3d 1133 (2018).

The Supreme Court adopted the position advocated by WALA by holding that one division of the Court of Appeals is not bound by the decision of another division of the Court of Appeals.
