The United States Senate has confirmed President Trump’s nomination of attorney Eric D. Miller of Seattle, Washington, to serve as a judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Senators gave their consent on February 26, 2019, by a vote of 53-46, with one senator not voting.

Governor Jay Inslee appointed Averil Budge Rothrock to King County Superior Court. She replaces Judge John H. Chun, who was recently appointed to the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division 1.

Today President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to nominate a sixteenth wave of judicial nominees, sixteenth wave of United States Attorney nominees, and eleventh wave of United States Marshal nominees. If confirmed, Eric D. Miller of Washington will serve as a Circuit Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Eric Miller is a partner in the Seattle office of Perkins Coie LLP, where he serves as the Chair of the firm’s appellate practice. The Supreme Court adopted the position advocated by WALA by holding that one division of the Court of Appeals is not bound by the decision of another division of the Court of Appeals.
